Does the Workplace diversity Matter ?

 

Attitudes, ideas, and the way individuals do activities in the office setting make up the culture of a workplace (Chipeta,2021). The culture of distinct businesses will differ depending on the type of business. A tea industry, for example, will have a different culture than in a banking industry.


Individuals from diverse backgrounds have been hired in numerous organizations in the current environment. It has been impossible to discriminate against employees based on color, gender, handicap, or culture since the development of employee legislation and trade unions, therefore multiculturalism has been a component of most businesses (Rodrigo, 2020). The human resource department faces a difficult task in managing diversity in an organization (Anon., 2018).

Who should Involve ?

Leaders must balance workplace diversity in order to properly manage personnel. This would entail learning about people's histories and beliefs, which can have an impact on how they make judgments in a multicultural setting. Using efficient methods of communication is one of the most important ways to manage diversity (Chipeta , 2021).

 

How it works ?

Management can also establish standards and norms independent of a staff member's background. They must ensure that all employees follow disciplinary guidelines and are treated equally. Diverse backgrounds would stimulate innovations within the company since people are having diverse thinking patterns based on cultures (Chipeta , 2021).

Duty of HRM Department.

The practice of fair hiring strategies would eventually lead to a diverse work environment. For businesses, encouraging diversity is the way to go. Organizations who can successfully manage diversity in the workplace will have an advantage over others in terms of creativity, growth, and providing career opportunities for employees in the global market (Rodrigo, 2020).

Methods of Diversity

1).Internal Diversity.

Internal diversity is related to what a person is born into. These demographics are something a person is born with, and are a part of one’s inner concept of self. 

2).External diversity

External diversity types are characteristics a person is heavily influenced by. These are demographics that a person has the option to change through external action. 

3).Organizational Diversity

Diversity and a diverse work environment positively impact the entire organization. These factors belong to the work we do or the organizations where we work (Chipeta , 2021).

Challenges of Diversity

-        - Communication issues

      -  Too many opinions

-        - Hostility

Conclusion

A diverse workforce is a reflection of a changing world and marketplace. Diverse work teams bring high value to organizations. Respecting individual differences will benefit the workplace by creating a competitive edge and increasing work productivity. Diversity management benefits associates by creating a fair and safe environment where everyone has access to opportunities and challenges. Management tools in a diverse workforce should be used to educate everyone about diversity and its issues, including laws and regulations. Most workplaces are made up of diverse cultures, so organizations need to learn how to adapt to be successful. Finally work place diversity is highly matter.

A group of people works together to achieve their goals in an organization. And this group of people performs much better when they are diverse. The world of business is changing, and so is the work culture. Bringing diversity in the workplace is one of the topmost priorities for business leaders and managers today.

As you explained, workforce diversity means an organization has built a team workforce that includes different kinds of people, different ethnicities, socioeconomic status, sexual orientations, genders, ages, religions, ect. A diverse group of employees will come up with varied and unique ideas and approaches and this allows the company to perform better and come up with creative ideas. there are some disadvantages too like communication barriers, negative attitudes, and resistance to change. It is a challenge to HR to manage with employees of different communication styles and cultures. But Oshadha if the matters can manage within the organization workforce diversity will be benefitted.

It allows businesses to build teams that bring different viewpoints and talents to the mix and it increases innovation and finally as you said in your conclution productivity and the revenues. One of the best example for company which has become the dominant of the market with stiff cultural diversity could be identified as the Coca-Cola Company.
